Ms. Jennifer Olszewski, Director
Ballet, Creative Ballet, Pre-Ballet/Tap, Pre-Ballet, Tap I, Modern II/III Instructor
Jennifer Olszewski is the Director of New City Dance Co. She has been studying dance since the age of three and teaching for the last nineteen years. She studied Anatomy and Kinesiology, Laban Movement Analysis and other dance related topics at the University of Washington, were she graduated with a B.A. in dance. She began dancing at the Burien Community Center at the age of three and has studied at local studios as well as at Joffrey Ballet School in New York, Burklyn Ballet Theatre in Vermont and Velocity Dance Center in Seattle. Over the years she has performed at events in the area, musical theater productions, and with the University of Washington Ballet Co., as well as with Burklyn Ballet Theatre in Vermont and Scotland. She has more recently performed with SSSCo, a local modern dance company. Recently she studied and was certified in Brain Compatible Dance Education and has studied the Bill Evens approach to dance education.
Ms. Diadra Smith is a graduate of Western Washington University, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. While earning her degree, she trained with faculty members Cher Carnell, Nolan Dennett, Susan Haines, Pam Kuntz, Laurie Kaden, former Pilobolus member Rick Merill, former member of Mark Morris Dance Group Kraig Patterson, and founding Mark Morris Dance Group member Penny Hutchinson. Ms. Smith also was an assistant teacher with Ms. Rachel Narhi through the Western Preparatory Arts Academy. Since receiving her degree, Ms. Smith has focused her career on teaching dance to students of all ages. Brain-Compatible Dance Education is one of her strongest teaching influences. This approach utilizes dance education to enhance the body and brain, not only for classical technique but for life beyond the studio as well. Ms. Smith continue to pursue knowledge to insure high quality instruction for her students.

Lisa Heringlake, Guest Instructor
Lisa grew up in Burien, where she begun studying dance at Studio VII. During high school she continued her learning through New City Ballet, where she taught tap and belonged to the performing group. She has also taught for Belltown Ballet and Conditioning, performed and choreographed for the University of Puget Sound Repertoire Dance Group, and studied at Johnson and Peters. She has a passion for teaching and is currently studying to obtain a degree in education.

Sarah Edwards-Strode, Guest Ballet Instructor
Ms. Edwards-Strode has trained with Joffrey Ballet on scholarship in the Professional Division, received an apprenticeship from Connecticut Ballet, and has also studied and performed with Ballet Bellevue, Spectrum Dance Theater, New City Ballet as well as other dance schools in the state of Washington. She has most recently studied dance, Kinesiology, and injury prevention with Cornish College of the Arts on scholarship and performed with Cornish Dance Theatre. Being a student of New City Ballet in her youth she has a special and personal commitment to further the academy’s education department. Sarah hopes to share her enthusiasm, passion and knowledge of dance with her students and continue to dedicate the art of dance to enriching peoples lives.
Sierra Keith, Guest Jazz Instructor
Sierra has been involved with forms of dance since an early age. She participated in Cheer, Flag Teams and Dance Teams in High School, and studied and performed in musical theatre at SCC in Seattle. Sierra was Clarkston Junior Miss in 1989 and choreographed for the Junior Miss program in 1989 and 1990. Her TV credits include a music video, which appeared on MTV. Sierra has studied ballet at ABA, NCDC, Spectrum Dance Theatre, Pacific Northwest Ballet and Arc School of Ballet. She has performed with The American Ballet Academy, Dance Works, and New City Dance Company. Most recently, Sierra continues her ballet training under many Pacific Northwest Ballet Dancers: Jeremy Conner, Kabby Mitchell III, Oleg Gorboulev and Marie Chong, and she is currently studying Contemporary Jazz with Jason Ohlberg, and Traditional Jazz with Richard Jessup. Sierra was previously on staff at NCDC.
